Only a few more weeks

til Christmas and then the NEW YEAR!

I love the new year...and the fresh new start of everything. I'm ready to re-evaluate our budget, clean out the stash of paperwork, and try to find a new system that works for me.

Hey good lookin'

what ya got cookin?

So now that I have that song stuck in your head. I've been thinking. Dangerous...I know. With the economy in the crapper we are all looking at ways to save and watching our money. I've been "mostly" frugal for many years. I say "mostly" because I know to some of the die-hard frugalites I'm an embarrassment but to most Americans I'm probably very frugal.

So...as I said...I've been thinking about ways to conserve our cash. I try to stretch my husbands paycheck as far as possible by being frugal. One of my easiest areas to control this is our grocery and dining out budget.

So thinking towards the new year and new goals I got to thinking...hey! Wouldn't it be neat for me to write down every penny I spend on food (cooked at home and eating out) for the year. So at Dollar Tree I saw a neat leather planner I could use for writing down each day.

Then I was talking about my goal with some friends and they thought it would be a neat idea for a blog. And I also thought it would be neat to keep for the kiddo's to show their kiddo's. How neat would it be to look at Grandma's grocery total from 50 years ago and compare prices and menus?!?!?!

And Frugal Food 4 Four was born.

We are a family of 4 (bet ya didn't guess that from the title). My husband, myself, my 15 year old stepdaughter, and my 2 year old son. My husband (a whopping 130 lbs) can out eat just about anyone and my son doesn't eat enough to sustain a bird. So I figure those will equal everything out.

We only have 3 grocery stores in our town. Aldi's, Jay-C, and Buehlers. No double coupons. We aren't on Wic or Food stamps. So this will be a "true" total. I know for a fact I will not be as good as this lady.....but I'm going to do my best. Hopefully....I stick to this. New Years Resolutions are not my strong point.

So to begin with....could you all tell me what your monthly food totals are for how many people? I'm interested in the numbers.
